Windows Server licensing via SPLA

SPLA (Service Provider License Agreement) is Microsoft's licensing programme for hosted environments. When Bagful provisions a Windows dedicated server, the Windows Server licence is included under Bagful's SPLA agreement — you do not need to purchase a separate Windows Server licence. This is the commercially compliant approach for hosted Windows servers; using a retail or OEM Windows licence on a hosted server violates Microsoft's licensing terms.

• Windows Server 2022 Standard — current generation, recommended for new deployments
• Windows Server 2019 Standard — stable, widely tested, available on request
• Windows Server 2022 Datacenter — for virtualisation-intensive workloads running multiple VMs

Microsoft SQL Server on dedicated hardware

SQL Server performs significantly better on dedicated hardware than VPS. Dedicated NIC eliminates network I/O contention on high-query databases. Dedicated RAM means SQL Server's buffer pool can be sized correctly without competing with other tenants. MSSQL Standard and Enterprise editions are available under SPLA — your advisor will confirm licensing cost based on core count and edition.
