Dedicated Database Servers — High I/O Bare Metal for Production Databases

Database performance bottlenecks — slow queries, connection pool exhaustion, I/O wait — are almost always a shared resource problem. On a dedicated server, your database has exclusive access to CPU, RAM, and NVMe storage. No other tenant's queries compete with yours. The result is predictable, consistent query performance under load.

Storage matters most for databases

Database performance is dominated by storage I/O — read latency for queries, write throughput for inserts and updates. NVMe SSDs on dedicated hardware deliver random read IOPS far exceeding SATA SSDs or HDDs, and without the contention of shared storage pools on VPS platforms. For high-transaction databases (e-commerce, fintech, SaaS with frequent writes), NVMe dedicated storage is not optional — it is the baseline.

RAM sizing for database servers

MySQL and PostgreSQL use available RAM for buffer pools — caching frequently accessed data pages to avoid disk reads. The more RAM allocated to the buffer pool, the higher the percentage of queries served from memory rather than disk. For a 50GB database, you want at least 32–64GB RAM dedicated to the database buffer pool. On a dedicated server, all system RAM is available for this purpose; on VPS, your effective buffer pool is constrained by your RAM allocation and the hypervisor overhead.

Configuration recommendations by database type

  • MySQL / MariaDB (web applications, e-commerce): Intel Xeon Gold or AMD EPYC, 64–128GB RAM, NVMe RAID 1. Most web application databases fit this profile.
  • PostgreSQL (analytics, geospatial, complex queries): AMD EPYC 7402 or 9354 — high core count handles parallel query execution. 128GB+ RAM for large datasets.
  • Microsoft SQL Server: Windows dedicated with Intel Xeon (socket-based MSSQL licensing is more cost-effective on fewer sockets). Dual Xeon 6142 for large SQL Server deployments.
  • MongoDB (document store, large collections): AMD EPYC with high memory — MongoDB's WiredTiger engine benefits from large working set in memory.

Global infrastructure. India-based support.

Bagful operates bare metal infrastructure across 25 locations in the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Your server runs wherever your users or compliance requirements demand. What does not change, regardless of which datacenter your hardware sits in, is who you are dealing with: a team based in India, available in IST, billing in rupees, with a phone number and WhatsApp you can actually reach.

This is the combination international providers cannot offer — global reach without the global support queue — and that pure Indian hosting companies cannot match. Bagful has operated from India for over 20 years. Our infrastructure advisors are in Mohali and Mumbai, not Manila or Dublin.

North India
Mohali, Punjab
Engineering and operations team. Dedicated server provisioning, technical support, and managed services. Primary hub for clients across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi NCR, Chandigarh, and northern India.
West India
Mumbai, Maharashtra
Sales and enterprise accounts. Serving clients across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and western India. Point of contact for infrastructure deployments, managed cloud, and enterprise contracts.

Support runs 10AM–7PM IST, Monday to Saturday. WhatsApp is available for critical infrastructure issues outside those hours. Every invoice is issued in INR with GST from Bagful International LLP — an Indian entity, not an overseas billing address.

Frequently Asked Questions

NVMe SSD is standard on all Bagful dedicated configurations. RAID 1 (mirroring) is recommended for production databases — provides redundancy if a drive fails. RAID 0 (striping) doubles throughput but has no redundancy. Your advisor will recommend based on your database size, write throughput, and uptime requirements.
Yes. A single dedicated server can run MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and other database services simultaneously. Resource allocation between services is managed via OS-level memory limits and configuration. Your advisor can help design a multi-service configuration based on your workload.
Yes. MySQL replication, PostgreSQL streaming replication, and MongoDB replica sets all work on dedicated hardware. Multi-server replication configurations across Bagful datacentres are supported — contact your advisor for multi-server pricing.
Managed dedicated includes daily automated backups. For databases specifically, we recommend additionally configuring database-level backups (mysqldump, pg_dump, mongodump) that run on a schedule and write to a separate storage location. Your advisor can configure this as part of managed service setup.
